Badge Count Outlook For Macos

Hi Josh,

It is possible to set the unread mail badge icon to work for only one particular account, though you have to be a little creative to do it.

  • My iOS devices are running iOS 11.4 and Mac is running macOS High Sierra 10.13.5. Note that the count on the icon is not just incorrect, it is persistently stuck at number 3. Count on iOS devices are appearing correct. When there are unread messages, the count is shown correctly to.
  • The softwareupdate command has an -ignore option which will prevent System Preferences from showing you Catalina: sudo softwareupdate -ignore 'macOS Catalina. To undo this, when you're ready: sudo softwareupdate -reset-ignored. But this doesn't clear the badge notification in the dock.

Mar 14, 2019 Select Preferences Notifications Badges. Tick Enable dock icon badge. Select one of the options in the Dock count section. To see badges only for unread emails, choose New Messages Only. To see badges for all emails in your inbox, choose Whole Inbox. Tick the email addresses you want to use badges with. Apr 21, 2018 If your Outlook recently got updated, or the phone itself got an update, this is probably why. The only way to resolve it would be to either rollback the update (uninstall it) which would be way more complicated for a full phone update, or contact the company (phone or app depending on which was updated) and see if they already know of the issue and are working on a fix. Mar 04, 2012 My iPhone shows the correct unread message count as well as Outlook Web Access, and on a seperate windows-based computer, Outlook is showing the correct unread message count of 3. Both Mac systems are using OS X 10.7.3 and I have never experienced this issue before.

Start by creating a Smart Mailbox (from the Mailbox menu) and name it something obvious, like the name of the account you want to keep track of.

May 20, 2019  Like Microsoft Entourage for Mac 2008, Outlook 2016 for Mac and Outlook for Mac 2011 are intended to be purely locally cached mail clients. Changing the location or using a mail identity that is located on an external hard disk or a network is not supported. The second badge count is shown on the left pane of Airmail which is termed as ‘Accounts badge’. It can also be set as unread count or all inbox count. When the badge count for particular account is shown in read, it implies unread count and if it is blue badge, it shows all mail count of that particular account.

For the criteria of the smart mailbox, select 'Account:' the account you want to track, and a second criteria 'Message is unread.' See this help page for how to use and organize mail with Smart Mailboxes -

Next we want to make the Mail badge icon display the number of emails in that smart mailbox. In MailPreferences (under the Mail menu) select General > Dock unread count: select the name of the new smart mailbox. See this article for reference -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

There may be several cases when a notification badge shows the incorrect number. Let’s go through the most common ones.

1. There are no unread emails, but the badge shows a certain number

In this case, please try to find the unread emails using the search in Spark. Tap the search icon at the top and type “unread”. If there are such emails, please mark them as read (you can use batch actions to do it faster). Now, the badge count should be correct.

Please note: Gmail accounts also include unread chats to the badge count. To check if you have any unread chats, open the Gmail webpage, click More on the left sidebar and select Chats.

If the badge still shows the wrong number, please use the instructions at the end of this article to contact our support team.

2. The badge count differs from the actual number of unread emails

If you have a Gmail account connected to Spark, please make sure you have no unread chats as Gmail also includes them to the badge count. Go to the Gmail webpage, click More on the left sidebar and select Chats. If there are unread chats, please mark them as read.
